Speakers will discuss the scientific revolution on coffee and its relation to sustainability, profitability and resiliency and creating sustainable, thriving and resilient rural communities. Speakers from the coffee-producing countries in Southeast Asia are also invited to talk on the status of the coffee industry in their countries alongside the various research, development and extension activities and outcomes.
Coffee cupping training will be held to enhance the cupping skills of the participants. Only twenty-five (25) participants will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
World-renown chef, barista and artist will demonstrate coffee-based cooking, barista skills, latte arts as well as coffee painting and coffee arts.
Research and extension initiatives on coffee conducted in Southeast Asia will be presented by researchers and others stakeholders from higher education institutions, both public and private colleges and universities, and other government or private research institutions.
A trade fair and exhibit will be held to showcase various coffee; and coffee-based products, equipment, services and arts from various government agencies, non-government organizations and business sectors.
This event brought together the Philippines’ key coffee players from the academe, research and development institutions, government agencies and private companies and discussed the issues, challenges, and opportunities of the coffee sector.
A network of 34-member State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) who are actively working for the development of the Philippine coffee industry through the conduct of innovative researches and extension activities. Established on November 9, 2017, the network aims to link all the member SUCs to research funding agencies such as the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Science and Technology, Bureau of Agricultural Research and other international funding agencies to harmonize the coffee research, development and extension activities of the country.
A first of its kind, the Philippine Coffee Journal is a compilation of scientific papers that focuses on the results and outcomes of research, development and extension (RDE) activities on coffee conducted by different higher education institutions and other government RDE institutions. It aims to revitalize the Philippine coffee industry through knowledge generation and transfer of technology to the community to recognize efforts in the development and promotion of the coffee industry through information dissemination and publication.
